GGN believes that geothermal heat belongs to everyone in the Netherlands, an independent source of energy and a service that should be accessible to consumers at cost. ACO2-free and affordable service that fulfills a function and meets a basic need, namely comfort. GGN rejects the idea that heat is a product, extractable, transportable and marketable.
So in that sense, geothermal energy is “available” and not someone’s product. Geothermal heat does not have to be generated or made. The solution to making the service accessible is called “LUC geothermal,” simply the abbreviation means low-cost heat. LUC stands for Low Unit-Cost.
By cost price, GGN means a transparent understanding of the cost structure for the consumer. Together with our definition of sustainability, this means in practice a hefty reduction in heat costs compared to the current situation. It also means that locally harvested heat from underground is also utilized locally (in the immediate vicinity). Independent, with noCO2 emissions and preferably co-owned and managed by the consumer.
